if your clients are using Office 2003 make sure they are using Office 2003 SP 2. Otherwise you will need to have Client Support of Version 3 or Version 2 setup on your exchange server.

All clients are using SP2. Same issue here. Odd things is, even when turning off "cached mode" on the Outlook 2003 settings for the Exchange account, still get that sync error when forcing a send/receive. Client was closed and reopened, system restarted, SP reapplied...etc. This seems to be a bug is the feeling i am getting. Paul

I was having problems like this. I fixed it by doing the following. In EMC 2007 go to Organization Configuration/Mailbox/Offline Address Book. Create a new OAB. Set this new OAB as Default. Delete the old OAB. Go to Server Configuration/Mailbox. Do properties on Mailbox Database/Client Settings Tab. Change Offline Address Book to new address book. Worked for me.

This worked for me but only for one of two Outlook 2003 clients. We are installing Exchange 2007. We are doing this very methodically. We have two Outlook 2003 client (SP2).We encountered this problem. We did what alanplum suggested and it worked for one of the two clients. The same error message appears for the second client. Any ideas?Thank you,

If, like me, you installed exchange 2007 without public folders support an now you receive errors when syncing your outlook 2000/xp/2003 concerning about off-line address book follow this steps:1) create a public folder store in the management console under the "First storage group"2) then on the mailbox role, under the organization preferences, go on the off-line address book tab and set "public folder distribution" and the client support you need, on!3) on the mailbox role under server configuration go on the properties for the mailbox database and in the "client settings" tab select the off-line address book based on your needs.4) update your off-line address book5) restart the services "microsoft exchange system attendant" and "Micrsoft exchange information store"6) login with your outlook and try to sync all your mailbox object, voila!-___________-r3N0oV4 rulezZ!
